New! Page template update – “Create a Fundraiser”

Facebook continues to explore fresh ways to help organisations like yours find new supporters and stay connected. It’s with this goal in mind that we’ve recently updated our Page template to include a “Create a Fundraiser” call to action in the Page header.

This new feature will create a constant entry point for supporters to create fundraisers directly from your Page. Like the donate button, it’s a great activation device for turning compassion into action and getting even more from your Page.

The “Create a Fundraiser” feature will be applied to all charity Pages beginning 19 June. Not interested? No problem. You can always opt out through your Page settings.

Donate button toggle – collect donations in two ways

Everybody likes choices, don’t they? Now charities have the choice of how they accept contributions – via the donate button, fundraisers or both. You can opt out of the donate button and rely strictly on fundraisers or vice versa. You have choices! Learn more here.

The donate button toggle is easy to use. Simply follow these steps.

  1. Sign in as Page administrator
  2. Go to Donation settings
  3. Under “Allow people to raise money for your charity” select either or both of the following:
    • “Allow people to raise money through fundraisers”
    • “Allow people to add donate buttons to their posts”

Boost your donate button posts

Give your paid and organic media strategies a boost. By boosting a post from your charity Page, it will appear higher up on your audience’s News Feeds. Start by adding a donate button to your Page post, then boost that post with a Donate Now button.

  1. Sign up for this product here. You must be a US-based 501(c)(3) to sign up at this time.
  2. A link will pop up asking if you want to add a Donate Now button.
  3. Fill in your title and description and click Publish.
  4. Learn how to boost the post here.

Onboarding made easy & efficient with a single EIN#

Now multiple Facebook Pages can onboard with a single employee identification number (EIN). A single EIN can be used to create up to ten affiliated Pages! Easing the onboarding process is a point of pride for the Social Good Team, and great news for charities that are eager to get started raising funds for their cause. Sign up here.

Creating or linking groups, now easier than ever

We’re always looking for ways to connect Pages and people. That’s why we’re so excited about a new feature that makes it easy for charity admins to create new groups on, or link existing Facebook groups to, their Page.

Many admins already manage groups with names that are similar to their Page. With this new feature, we’ve made that process easier than ever. Page owners can now build communities and drive group conversations around their charity in a voice that is distinctly their own.

Once linked, open and closed groups will be listed on your Page and you’ll have the option to post in the group as the Page identity.

Testing on this exciting new feature began earlier this year and it’s now available to all pages globally.

One Love Manchester

Ariana Grande broadcast her 4 June 2017 “One Love Manchester” benefit concert on Facebook Live and demonstrated how her community can unite for good. Grande organised the concert with friends including Katy Perry, Justin Bieber and Coldplay in response to the tragic bombing that occurred during one of her shows in late May.

More than 22,000 people used the donate buttons on Facebook Live to raise more than GBP 330,000 to support the One Love Manchester Fund. The event garnered more than 76 million views and received more than 2.5 million reactions, more than 400,000 comments and more than 750,000 shares, making it a positive example of using Facebook to bring together a community of donors, activists and volunteers around an important cause.
